Punk rock means freedom! True freedom is aquired with limited government. There's a very common practice amongst people who identify as punk that seems to be highly contradictory. It's the notion that all "punks" have to be liberal. This notion is completely absurd due to the fact that all punk bands are out to make a buck. Bands are business' and if the band doesn't make a profit the band will cease to exist. Bands typically do not make the majority of their money through performances. The performances or punk rock shows tend to take the "Saturday morning cartoon approach". This means, the concerts are basically giant commercials, with the intention of selling merchandise. Let's be serious for a second, people don't start bands with the intention of making everything "kumbaya". People start bands to make money and get laid.

One of the greatest examples of a punk rock conservative was, Johnny Ramone. Johnny was a true rebel, he knew the value of a buck. He also understood that bands are a business and if you want to make it in the music industry you have to be a responsible entrepreneur. Johnny was the leader of the Ramones. With his strict militant attitude and his love for the free market, punk rock was inevitable. Once bands such as The Clash and The Sex Pistols saw the success of the Ramones, they wanted to put their hands in the cookie jar of success. Therefore, these bands eventually packaged it up with hair dye and safety pins and sold it to consumers for the very low price of " $PUNK.99". I love punk rock, but come on, let's not lie to ourselves. All bands, including punk bands want your money.

"Commando"  The Autobiography of Johnny Ramone

Johnny Ramone wrote an autobiography called, "Commando". In this book he tells and amazing story about an interview he had with a liberal journalist. This is what Johnny wrote...

" I've always been a Republican. From the 1960 election with Nixon against Kennedy. At that point, I was just sick of people sitting there going, "Oh, I like this guy. He's so good looking." I'm thinking, "This is sick. They all like him because he's good looking?" And I started rooting for Nixon just because people thought he wasn't good looking."

I'm sorry but this is punk rock as fuck. Johnny also goes on tho say...

 Johnny Ramone gave his life.

Johnny Ramone gave his life.

"I remember doing an interview in 1979 for CREEM magazine with Lester Bangs and telling him that Ronald Reagan will be the next President. He was really mad that I like Reagan, who was the greatest President of my lifetime. So I turned it around on him and asked to see his Commie Card. In fact, after that, I would ask him for his card. I think he had one, really."

The man, the legend, the Johnny.

The Ramones are arguably the greatest punk band to ever live and without them, music would not be the same. In 2002, the Ramones were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. They couldn't have done this without Johnny. During his acceptance speech, the punk rocker in him couldn't resist. He had to piss off the Commie celebrities one last time by saying, "God bless President Bush, and God Bless America."

To all the punks out there afraid too tell their friends what they truly believe, remember punks not dead, it's conservative.

As of 2016, punk has taken a new form. Our sitting President is Donald J. Trump, the most punk rock president to ever exist. We as punks used to talk about how shitty the media was and how fake the news and celebrities were. Now we have The Donald, who is saying everything we as punks would say. Johnny is now deceased, but I know for a fact that he would be proud of America. Johnny would be a, Proud Boy!
